Welcome to this slow cooker/crockpot blog. I believe slow cookers are the best thing to happen to modern day cooks. I used mine often when I worked outside the home and continue to do so even in retirement. It is so nice to put food on and forget about it. Slow cookers also allow us to cook many things we would normally have to use the oven for; what a relief in hot Texas weather! Some of these recipes are mine, many are ones I have collected over the years.

3 lbs ground beef
2 onions, chopped fine
1 garlic cloves, minced
1 green bell pepper, seeded & chopped, optional
2 cans (8-oz each) tomato sauce
1 tomato sauce can of water
2 pkgs sloppy joe seasoning mix
salt to taste

Brown ground beef in a large skillet; pour into a colander drain, rinse, and drain again.

Place the drained beef in a crockpot or slow cooker and add the remaining ingredients; stir together well.

Place lid on cooker and cook for 8 to 10 hours on low or 5 hours on high.

If you have too much liquid (you shouldn't have if you drained beef well), remove lid and cook on high the last 30 minutes.

Serve on your favorite hamburger buns.
